Two years old Oranges
- The blossoms appear on the orange trees between June and July. They grow into a fruit within two years.
- At the beginning of the 19th century, they were picked to make tea (see a letter of a doctor advising H.S.H the Duke of Beaufort to quiet the mood of his son by giving him orange blossoms infusions).
- Then at the end of the 19th, the blossom juice was used to make candies.
- At present, there is no more time to pick them. They thus grow into small green buttons, which one has to remove in September to prevent the exhaustion of the tree.
- The remaining buttons become small oranges within one year, get the normal size of oranges of after two, and then they decay. They are very bitter and half of the fruit is pulp.
- The flowers saved Freÿr during the Terror. This anecdote will be told to you during your visit.
