Frederic, first Duke of Beaufort-Spontin

• 1785: He refurbishes, after his marriage, the interior of Beauraing in style Louis XVI. The Révolutionaries will burn it down 11 years later. Hence, the family memories will disappear in fume.
• 1794: He emigrates to Munster where he survives during one year, before returning to Freÿr.
• 1812: He must under the dictat of Napoleon give up his function of chamberlain of François of Austria-Hungary but refuses to take the same function for the Emperor of the French by fidelity to the Habsburg.
• 1814: He is named Governor of the Netherlands by the Allies, whereas Wellington remains in the Beaufort mansion in Brussels.
• 1815: He takes part in the Congress of Vienna, but does not succeed in obtaining that a Habsburg junior branch is established on a Kingdom of Belgium.
