Strong willed and choosy
- Gilda, daughter of Humbert de Laubespin and Odette Lagarde, married Francis Bonaert.

Her grandmother, Louise de Laubespin, suggested her some candidates for marriage, whom Gilda rejected.
- "How can you, after having married the most handsome man of your generation (Theodule), present me such little runts!".
- The same Gilda told that when she was going to a restaurant with her grandfather, everyone looked around to see such a tall and handsome old man with a flowered beard.

During the Liberation offensive, the family went underground in a shelter in the garden,
while the shells were falling into the Meuse.
- Suddenly, Louise exclaimed: "I left my fur coat in the house. Gilda retorted: "You will not go back there whereas the shells may kill you at any time".
- Louise replied: "The Germans will not offer me a new one". Finally, Gilda pregnant of Baudry went to seek the coat.
